Puerto Rico remained unscathed in three games after destroying Uruguay, 93-69, in the third day of the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship on Sunday night in Caracas, Venezuela.

Carlos Arroyo, who is coming from a 20-point performance in their 83-67 win over Canada on Saturday, scored 19 points on 6-for-11 shooting from the field, including an impressive 5-for-6 clip from the three-point region.

Arroyo, a veteran of major international tournaments, also kept his teammates involved, dishing out eight dimes, while also tallying three steals.

Alexander Galindo also had a share of the spotlight with 19 points that was highlighted by his 6-for-10 shooting from beyond-the-arc, while Renaldo Balkman was a source of strength and energy once again as he racked up 18 points and eight rebounds to go along with four steals.

Uruguay, who defeated Jamaica in their tournament debut on Saturday night, had a strong start and led 12-8 in the 6:17 mark of the first period. However, Puerto Rico shifted to next gear and turned the tables around into their favor, building a 29-18 lead heading into the second quarter.

Puerto Rico outscored Uruguay 23-14 in the second period to put themselves comfortably ahead 52-32 at the half. It was all Puerto Rico from then on as they led by as much as 27 points in the second half, running away with their third-straight win in three games and three nights.

Leandro Garcia had 17 points and three assists, while Mathias Calfani added 14 points for Uruguay, which dropped to third spot in Group A with their 1-1 record behind Puerto Rico and Canada (2-1).

Puerto Rico will go for their fourth-straight win when they go up against Jamaica on Monday night, while Uruguay will face off with Brazil in the third game of the day.
